Grietje Sprot

Information about the fisherwives choir "Grietje Sprot".

We grew up at the seaside. We like eating fish and love to sing songs and so it happened that we started the fisherwives choir, Viswijvenkoor Grietje Sprot in 1993.

Our fishy repertory comprises songs about fish, the sea and fishermen on board their ships. But also about love, joy and sorrow. We wear workingclothes as the women wore them in different Dutch coastal regions in the 1920’s, like Spakenburg, Zandvoort, Marken and Peasens Moddergat. Between songs we give an impression of our mostly hard, but colourful life. We sing Dutch and Frisian songs and play various instruments.

We are happy to give a performance at your party, at events and festivals.
